Things My Beard Can Lift

Holy cow! A HUGE last-minute surge cracked $2,000 just in time for Friday’s lift on the WGN Morning News at 8:45am! So come on, people, put my beard to the test: what 20 pound object should I lift on Friday?

Here it is: the first cut of the Beardumentary by Katelyn Bogucki!

Wait, what? Beardumentary? Oh, yes. Katelyn contacted me the day I launched ThingsMyBeardCanLift.com to ask if she could document the process, so she’s been there from the beginning, recording all the ridiculousness. Here’s her bio:

Katelyn is a senior at DePaul University, majoring in journalism and digital cinema. Throughout her course of study, she has documented a variety of interesting characters and has shared their stories through print and video.

She considers Eamon an interesting character and has enjoyed chronicling the beard lifts. After graduation, Katelyn hopes to find a job in media so that she can keep telling stories.

Lift 2 was a success! For my fifteen pound lift, I lifted the Windy City Rollers’ championship trophy, a pair of Reidell skates, and an extra 2-pound hand weight just to round the whole package out. Special thanks to the director of OTSC, Ralph Campagna, the assistant director, Arnett Morris, and the wonderful kids they brought with them to participate in the event! It was an incredible experience I won’t ever forget.

It’s that time again: midnight on a Wednesday! So far, we’ve raised an incredible $1,545.00, so that means I’ll be lifting a 15 pound object on Friday!

Even more insane: I’ll be doing this lift in front of 3,000 people at the UIC Pavilion! Tickets are available online or at the door, so if you want to see my beard fail in spectacular fashion live and in person, come on out!
