Lift 1: Millennium Falcon

February 13th, 2009

Lift 1 is in the can! For my seven pound object, I lifted a Millennium Falcon model and an iron R2-D2 sculpture, graciously provided by fellow beard-wearer Brad Priller and originally suggested by Liam and Paddy May. There was some confusion as to who was filming what with what (and more on that later), but here are some screenshots from the video:

Thanks to everyone who made this first lift possible! Will I lift something even heavier next week? Ask your friends to donate today!

Genius! You just made Star Wars fans around the globe happy. I love the addition of the R2 unit.

Congrats! Very impressive. Hey – Friday the 20th… lift at haftime. Perhaps some smelly derby gear or maybe a small derby girl.

The Beard should join forces with other beards such as http://twitter.com/Beard_of_Cloud… enough beards, some ropes and pulleys and you could lift an entire derby team… ~1920lbs or a donation of $192,000.

I heard you on the Tom Dunne radio show and was wondering if your planning any special lifts to mark Saint Patrick’s day? Possibly a box of lucky charms as a warm up and then maybe a crock of gold? Lepracauns have beards, its could be the source of their awsome power.

I hope you plan on bringing what looks to be the strongest beard around to the World Beard and Moustache Championships in Anchorage, Alaska May 23rd 2009. Like you at the championships all net proceeds will be going to children’s charities-Campabilities-summer camp for blind youth, Lead dog: Training seeing eye dogs and the Lions club site program, which performs free eye exams for children right in the school itself. They even go to the villages and give the exams. So I say give this man a hand and then a boost to the World Beard and Moustache Championships he’s doing a good thing. To register and cheer him on go to http://www.akbeardclub.com
It would be nice to meet him personally
